Spearmint, or Mentha spicata is a pleasant-smelling species of mint found in health-food products, toothpastes, mouthwashes, and cosmetics. It is often used in medicine for its claimed therapeutic properties. It contains vitamins, antioxidants, and vital nutrients. Its aroma is very similar to that of peppermint. It contains less menthol than peppermint, but it is rich in limonene, dihydrocarvone, and cineol. It has a sweeter taste than peppermint.

 

The advantages of spearmint water

  • It is carminative so that it is absorbed after 10 to 15 minutes after consumption and
  • It has an important effect on the treatment of bellyache and cramping resulted from flatulence.
  • The consumption of spearmint water is useful for blood cholesterol.
  • Drinking spearmint makes the liver cleaned and it causes bile to be diluted.

 

How to use spearmint water

For the treatment of flatulence and cramping, you can drink half of a glass of spearmint with a glass of water after each meal. For lowering blood cholesterol and having impact on liver function, drink herbal tea of spearmint leaves or a glass of spearmint water some minutes before eating meals.
